JA Garfield Local School District

The Mission of the James A. Garfield School District is to serve our district by providing educational opportunities for all to become lifelong learners and productive members of society.

Thank you for your support which provides the opportunities for our students to excel!  For the third consecutive year our district was rated EXCELLENT by the state, earning 26 of 26 indicators and also earning the Performance Index with 100.4!  All four of our schools were also labeled Excellent; the high school for the 7th consecutive year and the elementary school for the 4th consecutive while the intermediate and middle school received the state's highest rating for the first time.  The entire school district family asks that you celebrate this achievement with us.  It takes an entire community to educate a child.  Thank you for your continued support and recognition of each member of our proud G-Men family! We say goodbye to our two elementary school retirees; Mrs. Karen Ziarko, 37 years and Mrs. Sue Grajek, 35 years.  We welcome Mrs. Melinda Ensinger, moving from a Title I tutor to teach third grade, Ms. Emily Bihari, a student teacher with Mrs. Mary West from Hiram College will become the Title I tutor.  Ms. Pamela Jakubec with be a part-time tutor at the elementary school.  Ms. Carrie Wiesenbach of Burton and a KSU graduate will join us as a school psychologist, primarily at the elementary school, under the direction of our Special Services Director Mrs. Amanda Tandy.

Please take the time to review the finances of the district by accessing our 5-year plan; ask Tracy Knauer, Treasurer.

We take pride in offering our students a great education while maximizing the local and state dollars.  We are looking forward to an awesome 2010/11 school year filled with learning, new experiences, excitement, much fulfillment and an even better year than last!  The spirit of the Garfield School family and community fuels most of us.

Please continue to view our website frequently and provide feedback or contact me with a suggestion or concern.  We are always interested in improving our schools and appreciate hearing from you.  The James A. Garfield School personnel are here to serve students, parents and the members of the community.  It is this partnership of respect that makes our district one in which everyone wants to be involved.  Call me at 330-527-4336, mailbox 601 or email me at cklamer@mail.garfield.sparcc.org
