Hello! I am Heidi Atkin and I have been a teacher at James A. Garfield Elementary School for 10 years. I graduated from Fairmont State College and began my teaching career in Lynchburg, Virginia. I then relocated to Ohio to be closer to family and friends.
I have two boys, Nicholas and Noah whom attend school in the district. We enjoy camping, fishing, sports, traveling, and boating. I currently attend Ashford University and plan to graduate this year with my Master's Degree in technology. I truly believe that being active keeps us all young at heart!
Parent volunteers are very important to me and my class. I have parents help with activities on a daily basis. As a parent, I know that it is comforting to see what happens in my child's class as well as play an active role in their education.
With our new standards based report card regular assessments are conducted. The report is very detailed in order to inform you of your child's progress. I am here to help your child adjust to the school environment and to make learning enjoyable. For most children this is their first school experience and having it be rewarding for them is what I strive for! Have a wonderful 2007-2008 school year. Go G-Men!
