Welcome to Mrs. Grajek's Web Site!
|
I'm excited about our school year! This is my eighth
year teaching second grade. I previously taught first grade
and elementary vocal music for many years, in New York and Iowa,
before I began at Garfield Schools. I have taught in the Garfield
School System for 32 years. I am so proud to be a teacher
in the Garfield School District!
|
|
I treasure all the wonderful children I have had the privilege of
having in class, all the dedicated parents I have met and my
colleagues who are so supportive of their students.
|
|
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York
and a Masters Degree in Language Arts from Kent State University.
My special interests include children's literature.
|
|
In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dog, reading, singing in a
woman's chorus, playing in a drum circle, spending time with my
family and working in my garden.

Spelling
A practice test will be given on Friday for the next week's words. I will send a list of the words home on Friday, as well as the next Monday. The spelling test is given on Thursday. There will be a spelling grade as well as a language grade. The students will write a sentence for each word. The language grade will be determined by the the correct use of upper case letters and correct endings(periods, question marks and exclamation marks).
Homework Policy
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday evenings. The students should not spend more than that 20 minutes on homework each night. The important thing is that the students establish good study habits, working in a quiet place and establishing a regular routine for doing homework. If the students find the reading material too difficult to do read independently, the parent can read with the child or read every other page.
Birthday Treats
We have 25 students in our class. The children can bring treats in. We usually share birthday treats at the end of the day.
