First grade is an exciting year for your
child. As your child's first grade teacher,
I have a mission statement that I would
like to share with you:
I strive to maintain an environment where
your child feels safe and secure in all
learning situations. It is important
for a first grader to feel welcome and to
enjoy his day at school. I expect to see
academic, social and emotional growth
in each child and I will work toward those
areas of growth.
For you parents;
You can expect a parent letter
each Monday. It will include
topics of study, homework for
the week, schedule of specials
and anything particular to that
week. Spelling words will be
listed. I give a pretest on
Thursday. Anyone not scoring
100% will take it again on
Friday.
Daily Schedule
8:50 start of school day-
time for morning seatwork,
attendance, check folders
9:15 Language Arts
Reading, writing
(Title 1 time during the
morning)
11:45-12:15 Lunch
12:15-1:00 Special
1:00-2:10 Math
2:10-2:40 Recess
2:40-3:10 Science,
Health or Social Studies
(we also squeeze a snack
in somewhere in the
afternoon!)
