  Mrs. Teresi, Room 25

          6th Grade

   Science and Health

My name is Mrs. Teresi. I have lived with my family in Garrettsville for the past 35 years and taught in the Garfield Schools for nearly 30 years. My husband, Rich, is a volunteer fireman and retired biology teacher.

I have been teaching 6th grade science for about 12 years now, so have developed a system to help each student (and their parents) survive the 6th Grade Science Fair!

"If you want to eat an elephant,
              take small bites!"

Ask your child to show you the due dates in the Science Fair Project Handbook and all will get done in "small bites!"

  Ohio Content Standards'

         Science Units

Units that we cover in sixth grade science are: Scientific Method, Nature's Cycles (water, carbon dioxide, oxygen), Human Body Systems, Cells, Heredity, Chemistry, Rocks and Minerals, Generating Electricity and Energy Sources (renewable and non-renewable).

Work on individual Science Fair Projects begins in September and culminates with judging at the 6th Grade Science Fair in January. Each student is provided with a Science Fair Project Handbook and due dates for the assignments that lead to the completion of the Science Fair Report. This report is worth one-half of each student's science/health grade for the third nine-week grading period.
