FROM THE ART ROOM
Students will have art class for 9 weeks this year. During class students will work on projects geared to a use of a variety of materials and concepts. Students will maintain a weekly sketchbook in which they will complete assignments that add to the larger project we are or will be completing. Students will also use technology to enhance their learning.
Good behavior is important in any class and art is no exception. Students will begin the year with 100 class participation/behavior/attitude points. Those points can be deducted daily one at a time for a variety of offenses such as disrespect, disruption of class, misuse of materials, safety violations, etc.. Actions will be taken after the loss of points in the following way.
Loss of 5 points will result in my calling home to notify parents of possible problem
Loss of 10 points will result in an office referral for detention
Each additional 5 points lost after ten will result in additional detention referrals
Another new grading item is that students will be asked to create a final show of work at the end of the grading period in which they will choose their best work of the term for a critique. This will encourage students to make choices about their work and look at their work more critically.
I look forward to working with our students and exposing them to the world of art and art creation. Who knows we may have the next Van Gogh in our midst?

1. Pencils (not mechanical, they are not good for shading)
2. Erasers
