Homework Procedures:
1. Students will have some type of homework just about daily (class time is often provided).
2. All homework is checked/reviewed by me or the student.
3. Full credit is given to work that is neat, complete, and if ample work/steps are shown.
4. If the majority of the problems are incorrect the student will redo the problems.
5. If absent, the student is responsible to see me about missed work.
6. An agenda is posted for the entire week, displaying the topics covered and assignments given.
7. I do NOT accept late assignments.
8. THREE'S A CHARM - Permitted ( not encouraged) two incomplete homework assignments per month, but points will be deducted from the nine week homework grading period. Third incomplete assignment results in an after school detention.
9. Calculators will be used on a daily basis. The recommended calculator for daily use is the following: TEXAS INSTRUMENT Model: TI - 30X IIS You may purchase this calculator at Wal-Mart, Rite-Aides,and other stores for about $15. The Algebra students will also work with the class set of Graphing Calculators.
Math Notebook
Each student should have a three-ring binder. It is advised to keep all assignments, handouts, quizzes, tests, and etc. in this binder. It is a great source to review for tests and allow the student and parent to monitor achievement.
Grading Policy
All assignments are based on a point system.
Tests Quizzes Homework Participation Projects Group Activities Mid/Final Exams
CPR Policy -- Give another life to any "F" grade on homework, quizzes, and chapter tests.
Correct the paper,Make the paper Perfect, & Return your paper for additional points. If ample work is shown on the paper for correcting the work, points will be added to make the F grade to a D grade.
Welcome to the 8th grade math. It is my goal to help you make sense of the mathematics you learn. I want you to make connections and feel relaxed in my classroom. I will do my best to present the information into steps to help you understand how and why math works. It is extremely important that you participate and do your best by practicing the problems assigned. Please feel free to discuss any concerns with me.
